Entry and exits

Know the first cost. Plan every exit.

Selected new make opportunities can begin from £3,000 with five years’ storage and insurance included. That is an indicative entry point, not the full lifetime cost or a promise that suitable stock will always be available.

Entry · From £3,000

Buy the cask that fits the purpose

The client buys an identified physical asset. New make can offer a lower entry price and a longer wait; mature spirit costs more but may suit a nearer bottling or sale review.

  • Selected new make from £3,000
  • Five years’ storage and insurance included
  • Whole cask, not a fraction or token
  • Certificate of Entitlement issued first
  • Availability varies by cask
02

Holding costs

Price is only the first line

The cask-specific proposal should state purchase price, brokerage or commission, transfer costs, included storage and insurance, and any later charges. Samples, regauge, movement, bottling, duty, tax and logistics may arise separately.

  • Purchase and transfer
  • Storage and insurance
  • Samples, regauge and movement
  • Bottling, duty, tax and delivery

Exit choices

Four routes, no assured route

Depending on the cask, condition and market, an owner may continue holding, seek an in-bond sale, transfer or gift the cask, or bottle it. Each route has timing, cost and buyer constraints.

  • Continue maturation
  • Seek a private, brokered or trade sale
  • Transfer or gift subject to warehouse rules
  • Bottle for private, corporate or commercial use

Liquidity

Plan for the unwanted scenario

No buyer, sale date or return is guaranteed. Choose a holding period you can afford, understand continuing costs, and keep a bottling or longer-hold alternative where practical.

  • Value can fall
  • A buyer may not appear when wanted
  • Selling can take time
  • Bottling can add substantial cost
